Rev Dixon reflects on 10 Year Celebration

A Letter of Gratitude and Celebration

Celebrating 10 Years of God’s Faithfulness

To the Leadership, Teachers, and Staff of Trinity Preschool, a Part of the Camp Curtin Community Learning Center:

It is with a grateful and humble heart that I celebrate the tremendous work God has accomplished through Trinity Preschool, an endeavor we helped establish in 2016 that continues to flourish ten years later!

The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:6, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” What a beautiful testimony of God’s faithfulness!

In 2016, Nevin Mindlin and I conducted a SWOT analysis to identify the greatest needs of the Camp Curtin community. Education emerged as one of our three highest priorities. Recognizing the challenges families faced when access to preschool education was reduced, we understood that investing in our children’s early education was essential to their future success.

With no money in hand but with faith in our hearts, we endeavored to establish a preschool that would serve our community. My wife, Vickie Dixon, became the first teacher and wrote the original policies and procedures manual. I am deeply grateful to Nevin and Jean for their community connections, which helped secure the funding necessary to bring this vision to life.

This was a collective effort of Camp Curtain Community Neighbors United, an organization we had the privilege of starting to bring neighbors together around a shared purpose. We were united in our commitment to be a blessing to the Camp Curtain community.

I have always told the congregations I have served, “If you’re not serving people, you’re not serving God!” Trinity Preschool is a living testimony to that conviction.

Today, as I look back over these ten years, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to see what God planted in our hearts flourishing and touching the lives of children and families. To everyone who has carried this blessed endeavor forward, thank you for keeping the vision alive and continuing the work!

May God continue to bless Trinity Preschool, its leadership, teachers, students, families, and the entire Camp Curtain community. We planted, others watered, and God has given—and continues to give—the increase!

With gratitude and a humble heart,

Reverend Willie L. Dixon
Retired Pastor of the AME Zion Church, but still on the battlefield for the Lord!

Thank you to our donors!
