Our Team

  • Rich Stokes LSW

    is an active Preschool classroom volunteer and serves as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee. He is a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg and the Widener University School of Social Work. Before becoming a Licensed Social Worker, he taught Middle School Civics in the Harrisburg School District.

  • Debbie Sanders

    has volunteered at the Preschool since it began in 2015 and continues to be an active classroom volunteer. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

  • Shirley Marks

    also volunteers with the Preschool and serves as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee. She has been a community advocate and volunteer in the Harrisburg community for many years. She was in the core group of individuals when the Preschool began in 2015 and was a co-teacher in the Spring 2016 semester. She continues to be an active volunteer in the classroom and the Summer Enrichment Program, and particularly enjoys watching the students grow in both their social and academic skills. Shirley has a business background.

  • Carolyn Shaffer

    is a volunteer with the Preschool. She is a graduate of West Chester State College. She is a retired Health and Physical Education teacher having taught 36 years in the Central Dauphin School District.

  • Deb Donnelly

    graduated from East Pennsboro High School. Working with children has always been a passion of hers and she has worked as a classroom aide for both Kindergarten and First Grade as well as both middle and high school special needs rooms. She served as the pre-kindergarten lead teacher at Safe and Sound Daycare until its closure. She is now partially retired and loves her days volunteering at the Preschool.

  • Jimmy Rafferty

    graduated from Lower Dauphin High School in 2012 and has been volunteering at the Preschool since 2018. He enjoys working with and helping the students.

  • Ashley Gipe

    Ashley is an active classroom volunteer joining the team in 2018. She is a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg earning a Bachelor of Elementary Education with High Distinction and an Early Childhood Education emphasis. Before becoming the Educational Coordinator and a Head Teacher at Huntington Learning Center, she served as a classroom teacher within the Central Dauphin School District. Ashley also volunteers at her local church and within the chronic illness and mental health communities. When she is not serving, she enjoys spending time with family & friends, playing piano, tap dancing, and sipping tea.
